Five Hurt in Car Crash at Dangerous Downtown Brockton Intersection

Five people were taken to the hospital following a recent two-vehicle crash in downtown Brockton. According to local police, the collision occurred at the often busy intersection of Warren Avenue and Pleasant Street around 10 am. Following the crash, paramedics reportedly transported two adults to Signature Healthcare Brockton Hospital and three additional adults to Good Samaritan Medical Center. Brockton Fire Captain Victor Parziale stated all of the injuries that resulted from the traffic wreck were considered to be non-life threatening. The accident is currently under investigation by the Brockton Police Department.

According to a report issued by the Massachusetts Department of Transportation (DOT) last September, the intersection where this accident occurred was among the top 200 high crash locations in the state between 2008 and 2010. In addition, a number of other intersections located along both Warren Avenue and Pleasant Street also made the list. In order to create the report, the Massachusetts DOT analyzed three years of crash data. The data was supposedly weighted based on the number of fatal or injury accidents that occurred at each intersection across Massachusetts. Because of this, the DOT report was purportedly designed to be more than a mere accounting of the number of collisions that took place at each individual intersection. The intersection of Warren Avenue and Pleasant Street ranked 190th most dangerous across the state.
